Kesia Nyawara International Foundation (KNIF)
The Kesia Nyawara Foundation (KNIF) was founded in memory of Mama Kesia Nyawara by her children who were very inspired by her unrelenting hard work, and generosity to the community at large; particularly to the vulnerable and neglected young and old in rural villages.
The KNIF Foundation is a 501(c)3 Tax Exempt non-profit corporation, registered in the State of Maryland, USA. We are a community outreach Foundation with our activities based in Western Kenya. Our main focus is for primary health care services intervention to improve the quality of life of at risk and neglected senior citizens in rural and remote villages; to provide awareness and management of Alzheimer's disease and other age-related diseases that affect the elderly, which in turn impact families, Caregivers, and communities at large, by collaborating with the local leaders, churches, local health care institutions and collaboration of international partners.

Facts About Global Healthcare Issues
Globalization of the world economy has impacted the villages in developing countries negatively with the exodus of young people from the rural areas in search of opportunities in urban towns, cities, and internationally. Rural Kenya is no exception and has resulted in the breakdown of traditional family support networks that existed in the past, that are no longer available in most societies today. One of the communities greatly impacted is the elderly poor when it comes to access to basic health care, and food. KNIF was established to reach out to this neglected and vulnerable group and provide healthcare assistance using medical camps, linking them with health care institution, providing information and training and incentives to caregivers, which could lead to an overall improvement to quality of life for the aging and their caregivers.
Our Mission
Provide healthcare resources and monetary grants mostly to senior citizens, and those without life’s essential healthcare services in rural Kenya. Our mission also focuses on raising awareness and education on the impact of Alzheimer’s disease and its debilitating effect on the elderly, and their caregivers.
Our Vision
KNIF organization is committed to continually improving the quality of care and services we offer to the neglected elderly and the poor, by providing them access to primary health care services, and linking them to providers and caregivers. In addition, our outreach programs offer an extension of healthcare interventions to people of all ages at yearly medical outreach camps, to address minor health issues before it becomes serious, and to improve quality of life.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors members consists of varied careers and experiences in Healthcare, Education, Finance, Law, Business and Management Strategies, and Economics. Our Board of Directors are passionate in finding healthcare outreach programs that benefit senior citizens who are living in poverty and cannot afford healthcare.
Partners
Our partners continuously provide us invaluable insights to help us target and implement our programs in areas where the demand for healthcare is in GREAT demand. We have operated since 2014, and had the pleasure of collaborating with amazing partners, under whose influence we have been able to grow our network and increase the scope of our healthcare outreach programs by hosting more health camps.
